The
Sunbury Police Department along with the Genoa Township Police, the
Delaware County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will
have a DUI checkpoint on Saturday, September 3rd from 10:00pm to 2:00am
in the morning. Labor day weekend and the start
of OSU football brings many opportunities for us to attend parties and
cookouts. We are asking drivers to please drive safe and to be
responsible when consuming alcoholic beverages. This year the national "DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER" crackdown is a program organized by the U.S.
Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that
focuses on combining high-visibility enforcement with heightened public awareness through
advertising and publicity. According to provisional data, 432 people died in 394 alcohol-related fatal crashes on Ohio’s roads in 2010. Alcohol-impaired drivers were involved in 40 percent of all traffic fatalities. |
