About Sunbury Police

The Sunbury Police Department currently provides police services 24/7 to a community of approximately 5,200 residents and covering 3.5 square miles.  The department currently has a Chief of Police, two Patrol Sergeants, two Detectives, a civilian Administrative Assistant and several full and part-time officers.

We are located at 9 East Granville Street in the lower level of the municipal building on the corner of Columbus Street and Granville Street.

The Sunbury Police Department utilizes a variety of Ford model vehicles to successfully accomplish its mission to keep the citizens of Sunbury safe.  Currently we use a silver paint scheme with reflective black/silver striping and lettering.  Officers wear a traditional style police uniform which is dark blue in color with a yellow trimmed police patch which depicts the town hall building and the year the village was formed.

Officers are equipped with Getac F110 tablets in each vehicle to do things such as reports, license plate checks, warrant checks and
many other things from the field, making each cruiser a virtual office on wheels!  This allows officers to be more visible to the public by eliminating the need to return to headquarters to do most field reporting.

Officers have the ability to see calls dispatched in real time through the computer.  Information is updated to officers as the dispatcher/call taker inputs this into the CAD system.  Currently we are using Alert Public Safety Solutions to provide this solution through the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and Delaware County Emergency Services.
